Procedure

Here is some more technical information about what I had done in surgery:
First my acl was reconstructed using an allograft (cadaver tendon). I think they used an anterior tibialis tendon. They had to drill some holes in some bones to slide the allograft in and stuff. Check it out:

Next is the good part....I did some research on this process but still don't fully understand it due to my fuzzy brain and non-medical giftedness. So here's what I think happened. I had some chondral fractures.(I am going to do my best to explain this and hope it is correct!) My knee had a lot of damage. From what I understand, my patella, medial femoral condyle and lateral femoral condyle all had fractures! The surgeon (Dr. Nitz- THE BEST!!) drilled several holes near (in?) these small fractures (a process called chondroplasty) to stimulate growth on the damaged surface. Feel free to add comments to correct me on this. Anyway, here are awesome pictures of holes being drilled in my knee!!

I love that I was given tons of pictures (prints) and a dvd with more pictures and video of the procedure!
