Surgery!

Yesterday was surgery and I was terrified when I finally got to the hospital. Everyone was really nice and reassuring and the meds I got were good. Unfortunately, I (and the nurses) didn't think the nerve block really took so I woke up in pain immediately. Honestly the worst part of the whole thing was waking up after. I was so sick and my leg was on fire. That passed after a little and by the time I got home I felt okay. My parents did a great job getting me set up and my loves, the Purks family, came to visit right away which really brightened my spirits. When they left, we set up the cpm machine (more on that later) but it is basically a machine that bends my leg from straight to a 45 degree angle. It SUCKS! I can say my leg was feeling fair before that, but after 2 hours on it (I have to do 6 HOURS A DAY!!) I was in tears and wondering how I would be able to do it every day. I was really sore after and woke up every two hours for meds/bathroom trips. God bless my wonderful, best mom for waking up every time I did! She is keeping track of when I take all my medicine on a nifty little chart. Also, for some reason my crutches slip a little on the wood floor up here (wax maybe) so she felt it necessary to follow me to and from the bathroom every time I went (which was every 2 hours?? - I never pee that much during the night!!) So needless to say, neither one of us got great sleep. I AM learning to sleep on my back, though, which is interesting. More later- time for the first dreaded cpm session of the day!
